Neither the CUC convertible peso or the cuban peso are traded currencies. Take pounds sterling and exchange there. Do not take US dollars. The bank may try to sell you Euros which, in my opinion is misselling as it isn't necessary.

You can't, 'cos Cuba doesn't want to sell its currency externally - it wants the foreign currency earnings to keep itself afloat. Captive market - you visit Cuba, you top up Castro's slush fund.

try your local bank. if not go to you travel agent and ask. i don't think you can get it over here. think it's best to take sterling or dollars. Cuba have few imports and exports, they're self reliable.
You cannot buy Cuban currency or exchange for pesos. Castro wants you to spend your currency to keep his communist * afloat as all his people starve. So if you have to put more money into Castro's pocket then spend Euros or Sterlings
